Immigrants continue to play a major role in shaping America’s business landscape, with foreign-born entrepreneurs, investors, and technology leaders controlling a combined fortune of trillions of dollars.

According to a post obtained from Forbes’ X handle on Saturday, a new ranking of America’s wealthiest immigrant billionaires shows that 144 foreign-born billionaires living in the United States are worth a collective $2.2 trillion, representing a significant share of the nation’s billionaire wealth.

The list is led by some of the world’s most recognizable business figures, including Elon Musk, Sergey Brin, and Jensen Huang, whose companies have transformed industries ranging from electric vehicles and space exploration to internet services and artificial intelligence.

South Africa-born Elon Musk tops the ranking with an estimated $927 billion fortune from companies including Tesla and SpaceX. Russia-born Sergey Brin, the cofounder of Google, ranks second with $272 billion, while Taiwan-born Jensen Huang, the cofounder and CEO of Nvidia, ranks third with $176 billion.

Many of these successful immigrants say their journey to wealth began with education, career opportunities, and a desire to create something new in America.

“I did my undergrad in India and I came here to do my master’s, and my plan actually was to come to the U.S., get my degree, maybe do a job for five years and then go back,” said Jitendra Mohan, cofounder of Astera Labs. “And everything worked out to plan except the last bit. So now I’ve been here for 32 years.”

Astera Labs cofounder Sanjay Gajendra said the American environment encouraged him to pursue entrepreneurship.

“It’s been a journey of coming to the U.S. with big dreams. For me, it was always about starting a company of my own,” Gajendra said.

Amjad Masad, the Jordanian-born cofounder of software company Replit, also praised the opportunities available to entrepreneurs in the United States.

“America still provides a lot of opportunity, it’s one of the most dynamic markets and innovative places,” Masad said.

The wealthiest immigrant billionaires come from diverse backgrounds and industries, including technology, finance, media, hardware manufacturing, and entertainment. Their stories highlight the global talent that has contributed to America’s economic growth.
